Artist: Ron Cheek
Price: $2500 unframed
Dimensions: 30" x 40"
Medium: Original oil on canvas; signed by artist
Artist Biography: "I suppose the hardest thing to do in my profession is to write about myself. As an artist, I have chosen to communicate visually rather than verbally. I am actually much more interested in knowing about you, the people who appreciate art. However, I understand the need for galleries and collectors to know a little more about me, so at their request, I'll make this attempt with a typewriter instead of a brush.

I grew up and finished my formal education in Flagstaff, Arizona. After serving 4years in the Navy during the Viet Nam war, I, like so many others, worked at various jobs trying to find what I was suited for. I really wanted to be an artist, although I wasn't sure how to go about it at that time. My wife and daughter have always been very supportive of my dream, and ultimately I found my way.

My work today is a result of intense work, study and perserverance. I have been influenced by many of the great artists of the past and present. I feel I have created my own style of painting, but neither I nor my peers are doing anything that wasn't done in the past -- it's only new to me. Maybe if I'm lucky, I'll be able to add one small new speck of creativity to the art world. That is something collectors and time will decide. My work now hangs in museums, corporations and many private homes around the world.

I paint from the heart. What I have learned today, I will use to create tomorrow."

Artist: Howard Behrens
Price: $2500 unframed
Dimensions: 29" x 34"
Medium: Limited Edition Enhanced Serigraph; S/N #163/300
Description: This serigraph has been sold out for quite some time. This is a rare find.
Artist Biography: For the past 25 years, Howard Behrens, the world's most renowned palette knife artist, has had a romance with the sun. From the idyllic lakes of Italy to the intimate gardens of New England, the artist has danced with her, chased her, seen her in her many different moods. Behrens' motivation comes from his strong passion to capture the "essence" of the places he visits around the world. The artist has been influenced by Monet, Van Gogh, and Nicola Simbari, the Italian palette knife artist. Behrens attempts to express his love for the radiance of the sun's gifts -- shadow, light, color, and the subtle nuances of these elements. Many years ago, Brehrens learned that the only way he can really achieve what he feels in his paintings is to create them using a palette knife for its boldness and control of color instead of a brush. Behrens' skill with this instrument has earned him recognition as America's leading palette knife artist. Behrens as had over 150 one-man shows from coast-to-coast since becoming a professional artist in 1980. His works have been on the covers of many art publications and he has been the featured subject of numerous magazines and newspapers. The artist's works are owned by numerous, well-known collectors and are in the permanent collections of many museums. The most recent Behrens' collectors are former President George Bush and Mrs. Barbara Bush.

"Mini Bear" standing

Artist: Louis von Kaelnau
Price: $350
Medium: Limited Edition Polyresin Sculpture; S/N; Edition #20/200
Description: Polyresin is a petroleum-derived substance which is manufactured from liquid benzene and ethylene gas. Most of the polyresin manufactured today is used in paints, lubricants, adhesives and molded items such as artificial limbs and small boats. Very few artists work with polyresin, presumably because of the technical difficulties involved. The material is likely to develop unwanted bubbles while in the molds; the resin also exudes heat during the molding process, a situation which can cause the resin to contract unpredictably and emerge from the mold not as a sculpture, but in several large pieces. In the many years that von Kaelnau has been working exclusively with polyresin, he has mastered the techniques for overcoming such difficulties. After the piece has been removed from the mold and cured for several days at a slightly elevated temperature, then the grinding and polishing begins, using sand papers of increasingly finer grit and the buffing wheel which produces the final shine. CARE OF POLYRESIN SCULPTURES: Polyresin is not extremely brittle, in fact a good deal of effort would have to be expended to break one of these sculptures. However, the material will scratch under very hard wearing conditions, but can be repolished. For ordinary cleaning, spray the sculpture with a non-filming cleaner like Windex, and wipe with a soft cloth, both the frosted and shiny areas. These sculptures are heartily recommended for outdoor display. It does not peel, pit or fade, and can tolerate the seasonal changes in any climate. However, sudden temperature changes are not recommended.
Artist Biography: Louis von Kaelnau (pronounced Kell-now) was born in 1924, the only child of artist parents. The senior von Kaelnau was a calligrapher and illustrator of children's books, in collaboration with the artist's mother, who was also a medical illustrator for the University of Minnesota. The von Kaelnau family moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota when Louis was 6 years old. He received his primary and secondary schooling in the Minneapolis public schools, then later attended the Minneapolis College of Art and Design where he graduated with honors. The Royal Academy of Art in Stockholm, Sweden was his next place of study. It was as a merchant marine seaman in Florida that he began working as a designer and craftsman of fiberglass boats and other utilitarian objects. This training, along with the encouragement of friends, is what propelled Louis forward into an art career of sculpting clear resin objects. His material is space-age and utterly modern, yet universal and timeless in its glorification of light. Louis von Kaelnau's work is not intended to shock or confuse the viewer. Rather, he says, he loves to create objects that are simply beautiful to look at and which invite the viewer to share his delight in the endless combination of light and shadow.

Artist: Emile Wegelin (b. 1875- d. 1962) French Post-Impressionist
Price: $5000 framed
Dimensions: Image: 12.5" x 17.5" Framed: 27.5" x 31"
Medium: Original oil on canvas; signed by artist
Artist Biography: Free from material worry as he was, due to his family origins, Emile Wegelin devoted his whole life to painting. He received a rigorous training from the best masters in the Lyon area, which enabled him to develop a precise technique and to be a master of his craft. This, in addition to his personal qualities, allowed him to express his deep love for nature with ease, and to communicate through his work an impression of simplicity that is the attribute of great artists. Fairly early in life Wegelin met August Ravier whose fine wash-drawings treating light and shade in a masterly manner he had admired since early youth. This master from Lyon, having recognized the young artist's gift, gave him his precious help, inciting him to further develop his work on paper, where he already excelled, and transmitted to him his techniques on the various methods of rendering light effects. However, the artist who had most influence on Wegelin, or rather the one whose character was in tune with his, was Pierre-Eugene Montezin, one of the most famous post-impressionists who has so rightly been called " the painter of seasons." A close friendship bound them together, and they very often painted side-by-side, interpreting the same landscape. Emile Wegelin was fond of idle brooks more than of big rivers, of shadowed meadows more than of large plains, and his mountains were always cheerful. No desired storms, no excess nor exacerbated passion, but a poetry of day-to-day life, peaceful, sometimes melancholy, never dramatic. Wegelin never presented himself as a censor, he was an "observer" served by a sure hand -- an artist. He did not search for any message, any lustre or artificiality, but for simplicity and real life. Wegelin made his the Impressionists' lesson -- paint nature as the main theme unceasingly, catch the light in its least variations, reproduce the landscape caught in one's eyes in all its splendor and peculiar features.

Price: $125 unframed
Dimensions: 8" x 10"

Price: $1000 unframed
Dimensions: 17.5" x 21"
Medium: Original oil on canvas; signed by artist
Artist Biography: "In point of style, Petre Constantin's art springs from the great Romanian inter-war tradition, without copying a certain model; it exceeds the limits and overlooks restraints, suggesting the existence of a territory of its own. In search of a definition, we might say that we are confronted with neo-impressionism, a notion which implies -- in the case of Romanian painting -- a considerable amount of nostalgic romanticism. A certain pathos subtly pervading the texture of the image, the elegiac accent transposed in a muted color gamut, with ineffable tonal passages dominated by filtered light, the motif of the landscape as spiritual site and emotional guide mark, the denial of the spectacular and of the facile picturesqueness: all these reveal a profound artist, both subtle and meditative."

Artist: Petre Preda Constantin
Price: $1000 unframed
Dimensions: 19.25" x 23.75"

Petite Sitting Bear II

"Petite Sitting Bear 2"

Artist: Louis Von Kaelnau
Price: $1200
Dimensions: H: 14.5" x W. 16" x D. 12"
Medium: Limited Edition Polyresin Sculpture; S/N; #5/200
Discription: Polyresin is a petroleum-derived substance which is manufactured from liquid benzene and ethylene gas.

Artist: Ron Cheek
Price: $500 unframed
Dimensions: 16" x 20"

Artist: Petre Preda Constantin
Price: $1000 unframed
Dimensions: 23.5" x 17.5"

Artist: Emile Wegelin (b. 1875- d. 1962) French Post-Impressionist
Price: $5000 framed
Dimensions: 12.5" x 17.5"
Medium: Original gouache; signed by artist
